POSTER EXHIBITION AT THE LUCERNA CAFE

The story of the Eigasai - Festival of Japanese Film and Culture began in 2008, when the first edition was held. The Czech-Japanese Association, the Embassy of Japan in the Czech Republic, The Japan Foundation, Lucerna Cinema, Lucerna Palace and Minimax Graphic Studio were at the heart of its birth. All of them have been involved in the realization of the festival for 18 years.

And together we have overcome the year 2021, when the pandemic of covid 19 threatened to skip one edition.

A true miracle happened in 2015 when Oscar-winning director Jōjirō Takita accepted an invitation to the Eigasai festival from program director Robin Heřman. He presented his work on the screen of the Lucerna cinema, including the Oscar-winning film Departures (Okuribito).

The festival has always been thematic. Together with the audience, we discovered the legends of Japanese cinema and challenged the stereotypes of Japan. Through the eyes of Japanese filmmakers we learn about reality and learn to understand each other's differences.
