Zdeněk Thoma, born 2 September 1938 in Prague. Photographer, publicist, traveller. After an almost year-long adventurous hitchhiking trip from Prague to Japan in 1970, he decided to travel only in the eastern direction. He spent more than seven years of his life in twenty-eight countries in Asia, mainly in Japan, China, Tibet, Nepal, India and the Philippines. His work has resulted in numerous travelogues, pictorial publications and more than 160 photographic exhibitions. He is most interested in the cultural history of tea, the art of oriental gardens and the highland landscape in changing light. He currently serves on the board of the Czech-Japanese Society. In 2017, he received the Imperial Order of the Rising Sun with gold and silver rays for his long-standing efforts to spread Japanese culture.
The exhibition runs for the entire duration of the festival in Lucerna Cafe.
